Harmony
Harmony is a wise, gentle paint mare who spent years teaching children and raising foals. Now the leader of our herd, she offers calm strength and quiet affection. Meet Harmony and discover the timeless lessons she still shares.
Malika
Malika, a half-Arabian, half-Mustang broodmare, came to the sanctuary from auction—scared and malnourished. Now thriving as a strong “queen” of the herd, she’s independent, proud, and finally safe to rest and dream.
Melody
Rescued pregnant from a Yakima herd roundup, Melody gave birth to Ruby the day she arrived. Still carrying her wild spirit, she’s shy, gentle, and wise—teaching through quiet presence and connection
Mollie
Once a rodeo bronco bound for slaughter, Mollie was rescued while pregnant and gave birth to Taloulah Moon. With years of care, she’s learning to trust again and now helps others heal through her resilience.
Phoenix
Born with leg deformities and marked for slaughter, Phoenix was rescued as a foal and healed through expert care. Now the Lead Gelding, he’s a brave, gentle leader who keeps his herd safe and inspires hope through his resilience.
Rio
Once a broodmare left without a home, Rio found safety and belonging at the sanctuary. Elegant and strong, she now thrives in the herd with a renewed sense of purpose and peace.
Rio
Born at rescue after her pregnant mother was saved from slaughter, Ruby grew up safe and loved in open pastures. Strong‑willed, playful, and endlessly social, she adores kids and craves attention, greeting every visitor with curiosity and joy. Smart and spirited.
Tag
Tag was rescued from a slaughter-bound truck and reunited with a safe herd at PMR. Playful, curious, and full of energy, he loves toys, treats, and attention. With the sanctuary’s care, Tag thrives while enjoying grazing, companionship, and the peace he’s earned.
Tilly
Tilly was born with a rare genetic condition (PSSM2) that affects her muscles. Rescued at four years old, she’s learning to thrive with careful care, supplements, and the support of her herd. Affectionate and gentle, she loves grazing walks, belly scratches, and human attention.
Majesty
Majesty, once a charro horse, found freedom and love in his final eight years at our sanctuary. Quiet and sensitive, he touched hearts with rare honesty and presence. Forever remembered, his legacy lives on through his herd.

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between adopting and sponsoring a horse?
Adoption is a permanent transfer of ownership, where the horse leaves the sanctuary to live with the adopter. Sponsorship is a recurring donation that helps fund the horse’s care while they continue to live safely at the Pregnant Mare Rescue sanctuary. Sponsorship does not involve ownership or moving the horse.
How does my sponsorship money directly help the horses?
Your sponsorship funds go toward the daily essentials for your horse and the herd. This includes high-quality hay and feed, necessary veterinary care (vaccinations, checkups), farrier services (hoof trimming), and maintaining their clean, safe pasture and shelter.
What benefits do I receive for sponsoring a horse?
Benefits vary by sponsorship level, but typically include:
A personalized Sponsorship Certificate.
Regular (monthly or quarterly) updates and photos of your sponsored horse.
A private visit or meet-and-greet with your horse (dependent on the level and the horse’s welfare needs).
Your name recognized on our website and at the sanctuary.
The knowledge that you are directly saving a life.
Are the horses available for riding or public interaction?
Many of our horses, especially those with past injuries or trauma, are not available for riding. They serve as therapeutic companions or sanctuary residents. Interaction is generally available through our approved visitor programs or as a benefit of certain sponsorship tiers, always supervised and prioritizing the horse’s comfort.
Is my sponsorship or donation tax-deductible?
Yes. Pregnant Mare Rescue is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. All donations and sponsorships are tax-deductible to the full extent allowed by law. You will receive an official receipt for your records.
Can I send gifts or treats to the horse I sponsor?
We love that you want to spoil them! For safety and dietary reasons, we ask that you do not send food treats unless they are pre-approved. You can, however, send toys, blankets, or grooming supplies. Please contact us first so we can ensure the item is safe and appropriate for your horse
